area, on the evenings of 31st December 2015 and 1st January,2016.
It is now 1.30 am on the 11th
January, 2016 - there is a thunderstorm going on outside -
inside our dogs are terrified. With the exception of my Yorkie, the other dogs were never afraid of lightning and thunder.
On the two nights in question, some bright sparks (excuse the pun)
in our area, decided to have some fun with firecrackers. I don't know who you are, or anything else about you - what I do know is that you have caused untold harm to our household. I would like to take this opportunity to ask you and others like you, to please think before you shoot off fireworks. You have a few minutes of "fun" and then sleep peacefully in your beds, oblivious to the trauma your innocent neighbors have to endure, for weeks and months afterwards.
We are new to this rather remote area, chosen by us for its isolation and tranquility, so it came as quite a shock when the fireworks started. We actually thought it was gunshots at first. The dogs went beserk. Have you ever tried to comfort a terrified dog? Have you ever had even just one of them shaking and shivering and clawing at you in an effort to get as close to you as possible, and you are completely powerless and out of your depth to help them, and it goes on for hours after the fireworks have stopped. Do you know how traumatic that is ?
Now every time we have have a thunderstorm we have a repetition of those two nights, and we don't know whether it will ever end,
or if the dogs will ever be the same.
