The Sound of joyful shouting and
salvation
is in the tents of the righteous.

10. Scripture tells us that Messiah
would be betrayed by a friend.
Among other references to this
event, Psalm 41: 9 says:
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
Matthew 10:4 clearly speaks of "Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him."
And John 13:21-22, 25-26, tells more specifically how it was fulfilled.
...He was troubled in spirit and testified and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray Me.
Then the disciples looked one upon another, doubting of whom He spoke.
...He then, lying on Jesus' breast saith unto Him, Lord, who is it?
Jesus answered, he it is to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when He had dipped the sop, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
Thus Judas, knowing that he'd planned to betray his best friend , took the bread and ate it.
God said His Son would be betrayed by a friend who ate with Him and He was.
11. The prophets said Messiah
would be betrayed for 30 pieces
of silver. Zechariah 11:12 says
of the betrayer:
And I said unto them, if ye think good, give me my price, and if not, forbear. So they weighed for My price thirty pieces of silver.
Matthew 26:15 shows the fulfillment :
And said unto them, what will ye give me, and I will deliver Him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
Jesus was betrayed by a friend for the exact price that had been predicted hundreds of years before.
God said that the price of His Son's betrayer would be thirty pieces of silver, and it was.
12. The Old Testament prophesies
that Messiah would be mocked.
But I am a worm, and no man: a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
All they that see me, laugh me to scorn; they shoot out the lip, they shake the head saying:
He trusted on the Lord, that He would deliver Him: let Him deliver Him seeing He delighted in Him.
Psalm 26:6-8
In Matthew 27:29 , its fulfillment is described:
And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon His head, and a reed in His right hand, and they bowed the knee before Him, and mocked Him, saying, Hail, king of the Jews!
Matthew 26:67 says:
Then did they spit in His face, and buffeted Him, and others smoted Him with the palms of their hands.
God said His Son would be mocked, and He was.

IS JESUS RELEVANT TODAY

Madonna tried to answer the question of "Why am I here," by becoming a diva, confessing, "There were many years when I thought fame, fortune, and public approval would bring me happiness. But one day you wake up and realize they don't .... I still felt something was missing .. I wanted to know the meaning of true and lasting happiness, and how I could go about finding it."
Others have given up on finding meaning. Kurt Cobain, lead singer of the Seattle grunge band Nirvana, despaired of life at age 27 and committed suicide. Jazz-age cartoonist Ralph Barton also found life to be meaningless, leaving the following suicide note " I have had few difficulties, many friends, great successes; I have gone wife to wife, and from house to house, visited countries of the world, but I am fed up with inventing devices to fill up 24 hours of the day.
Pascal, the great French philosopher believed this inner void we all experience can only be filled by God. He states "There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which only Jesus Christ can fill." If Pascal is right, then we would expect Jesus not only to answer the question of our identity and meaning in this life, but also to give us hope for life after we die.
Can there be meaning without God? Not according to atheist Betrand Russell who wrote, "Unless you assume a god, the question of life's purpose is meaningless. Russell resigned himself to ultimately "rot" in the grave. In his book "Why I am not a Christian," Russell dismissed everything Jesus said about life's meaning, including His promise of eternal life.
But if Jesus actually defeated death as eyewitnesses claim (see Did Jesus Rise from the Dead) then He alone would be able to tell us what life is about, and answer "Where am I going?"
In order to understand how Jesus' words, life and death can establish our identities, give us meaning in life, and provide hope for the future, we need to understand what He said about God, about us and about Himself.

6. Deuteronomy 18:18 says the
Messiah would be a prophet
I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and I will put My words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I command him.
This prophecy was fulfilled in Matthew 21:11 when the multitude said , this is Jesus, the prophet of Nazareth, of Galilee.
God said His Son would be a prophet and He was.
7. The Messiah would have an unusual
manifestation of the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 11:2 says of this:
And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
Matthew tells us of events that confirmed the fulfillment of this prophecy, including Matthew 3:16-17
Which states:
And Jesus, when He was baptised, went up straightway out of the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon Him:
And lo, a voice from heaven saying, This is My Beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.
God said His Son would have an unusual manifestation of the Holy Spirit , and He did.
8. The Messiah would also have a
ministry of miracles, as foretold in
Isaiah 35:6
Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing, for in the wilderness shall waters break out,
and streams in the desert.
This prophecy was fulfilled continually in the ministry of Jesus. For instance
Matthew 9:35 says:
And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synogogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
And Matthew 15: 29-31 tells us that:
And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
And great multitudes came unto Him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed and many others , and cast them down at Jesus' feet ; and He healed them.
Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
God said that His Son would perform miracles and He did.
9. The Old Testament prophesies
that the Messiah would rise from
the dead Psalm 16:10 says:
For Thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt Thou allow Thine Holy One to see corruption.
We are told by an apostle in Acts 2:31 that this prophecy was fulfilled by Jesus' resurrection, and he referred to the above verse.
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that His soul was not left in hell, neither His flesh did see corruption.
What an amazing prophecy! Hundreds of years before the Son of God walked the earth, it was predicted that He would rise from the dead, and He did.

3. The Old Testament also prophesies
that, even while occupying a human
body in this world, the Saviour
Messiah, would be the Son of God.
I will declare the decree: The Lord hath said unto me, Thou art My Son, this day have I begotten Thee. (Psalm 2:7)
This prophecy was fulfilled in Matthew 3:17 which says:
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, this is My Beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased.
It was again confirmed in Matthew 17:5
While He yet spake, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is My Beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him.
Luke 22:66-71 says:
And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led Him into their council saying;
Art Thou the Christ? Tell us. And He said unto them, if I tell you, you will not believe.
And if I also ask you, you will not answer Me, nor let me go.
Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
Then said they all , art Thou then the Son of God? And He said unto them "Ye say that I am."
And they said, what need we any further
witness? for we ourselves have heard from His own mouth.
We see that God said He would have a Son and He did.
4. Furthermore, the Old Testament
prophesies that, whoever this
Messiah Would be, He would be born
in Bethlehem.
At the time of Jesus' birth, Betlehem only had about 1,000 inhabitants.
"But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands in Judah, yet out of thee shall He come forth unto Me, that is to be ruler in Israel; Whose going forths have been from of old, from everlasting . (Micah : 5:2)
Matthew 2:1 shows the fulfillment :
Now, when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod, the king, behold there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem.
God said His Son would be born in Bethlehem, and He was.
5. Micah, also mentions (above), the
Pre-existence of Messiah "Whose
goings forth have been from of old,
from everlasting."
When He was in Judea, Jesus himself said He fulfilled this prophecy, when He told some people who opposed Him:
"Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day: and he saw it and was glad."
Then said the Jews unto Him, "Thou art not yet 50 years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? "
Jesus said unto them; " verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am,
(John 8:56-58)
This prophecy is also fulfilled in Colossions : 1:17, which says, " and He is before all things, and by Him, all things consist."
God said His Son pre-existed all things
and He did.

TWENTY SEVENTEEN
PART 23
Today is the 18th June, I have not touched this blog for 6 days now. I have spent the last six days trying to come to terms with my grief. I am now going to fill in these missing days as best I can.
When I opened my eyes on the 13th June the excruciable pain pierced my heart once more. My beloved son was gone, but God is still God, He will always be there, He is from everlasting to everlasting, and He is in control. He also
does not make mistakes.
Ruth and Andy went to town to do the things at the funeral home that needed to be done, like finding out costs etc.
When they returned Andy put his computer program on Ruth's laptop offering her the chance of earning some money. The three of us also discussed the next steps to be taken - we now knew approximately what the costs
of the funeral would be - but it was merely discussion nothing was written in stone.
We thought it would be best to have a family and friends "get together," ( to commemorate Danny's life) on the farm where Ruth and I have our cottage. This would be ideal as the owners have all the necessary facilities, like space and tables and chairs etc., but we would be without the church service.
Shortly after Andy left for home, I felt the need to check my e-mails and another shock awaited me. The e-mail was from a lawyer to whom we owed just over R17,000 which we were battling to pay off in installments over
the past few months.
We started by paying R500 per month and when we missed a payment due to
circumstances beyond our control we
immediately notified his office of our
dilemma. In November 2016, when we again had to miss a payment we reduced it, through contact with his office to R300 per month -
in the following seven
months, including
November 2016 and June 2017 we missed two more payments of R300 each.nBut we always notified his
office immediately when we could not pay.
Now this e-mail demanded payment of the full amount by 15th June - 2 days away - or legal steps would follow. Ruth phoned them and made an appointment for the next day. She then gathered a few of our saleable items and took them to "Cash Crusaders" in order to raise the R300 payment which we had just missed.
On the 14th she kept the appointment with the woman in charge who was very ruthless.The previous "debt collector" was now no longer in their employ and so this one was a complete stranger,
with a complete lack of empathy or understanding and Ruth left their offices in tears.
When she got home, she made an appointment with the lawyer himself - her appointment was for the 23rd June. We then had to place the problem on the back burner and carry on with the rest of our problems. Life must go on.
Fortunately God is in control.

For Thou, O Lord, hath not forsaken those
who seek Thee.
