TWENTY SEVENTEEN - PART FIVE

                                       TWENTY SEVENTEEN                - PART FIVE

   Hello Folks,

Today is moving day. I             wake up at 5.30am and start     by sorting out my room.  Charmaine arrives at 6am and the two of us work till 9.30 and then Charmaine leaves to help load while I carry on  - there are four large boxes in the storeroom  that need sorting and still a good number on the porch.

All of my cupboards still have to be emptied as well as the bathroom cupboard. There is no longer any time to diarize what the boxes contain, just pack and pack, Racing against time. Certainly not good for the constitution of an eighty seven year old.

I put a chicken and some potatoes in the oven to roast. We will need to eat later.. At 9.30am I move to the porch with the dogs and the door is closed  - so that Lucky and Noel, Ruth and Charmaine can start loading.

At 1pm the men take an hour lunch break while Ruth, Charmaine and me eat roast chicken and potatoes, then carry on packing.  We give Charmaine the rest of the food to take home.

Late afternoon, Ruth takes me to our new home where at last I can lie down on my bed. I am completely drained of my strength, and at the point of collapse.

Ruth is so busy, only                God sees my tears.                  They all work till after              6pm and by then there              is hardly anywhere to move.  Boxes and carrier bags in every available space. No where to put your feet. And no empty counter tops even the single sink is loaded with boxes and bags. It is impossible to access a water tap.

Well, at least it is now done. Feebly after a bit of a rest I attempt to put some foodstuffs into the fridge but give up. I do not have the strength.  On hindsight I wish I had taken some pictures of what the place looked like but of course I was too tired for that.

Ruth manages to make some popcorn after a search for a saucepan. We both have no strength left and that is all that is available. I eat a peach and Ruth eats a nectarine.

We go to bed early. The guys will come to connect the television tomorrow.  Our friend provides the funds for the TV.  We have forgotten the wall clock and biltong machine at the old house. Will sort that out tomorrow.

Put it all in God's hands and go to sleep. God is in control. He will bring us through this, Stronger and closer to Him than before. Praise His awesome Name.

JOKES

JOKES

What happens to a frog's car when it breaks down?
It gets toad away.

My friend thinks he is smart. He told me that an onion makes you cry so I threw a coconut at his head.

What did the duck say when it bought lipstick. "Put it on my bill."

Question:  "Is google male or female?"
Answer:     "Female because it doesn't let you                             finish a sentence before making a                             suggestion."

A teacher asks her class to use the word beans in a sentence. "My father grows beans," said one girl. "My mom cooks beans," said a boy. "We are all human beans,"  says a blonde student.

MY FAVORITE PSALMS - PART FIFTY NINE

                                        MY FAVORITE                                                       PSALMS - PART
                                        FIFTY NINE

Praise ye the Lord; Blessed is the man who fears the Lord; that delights greatly in His commandments. His seed shall be  mighty upon the earth; the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

Wealth and riches shall be in his house and his righteousness endures forever.  Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; he is gracious and full of compassion and righteous.

A good man shews favour and lendeth ; he will guide his affairs with discretion.  Surely he will not be moved for ever; the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.  He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is fixed ; trusting in the Lord.

His heart is established, he shall not be afraid until he see his desire upon his enemies.  He has dispersed; he has given to the poor, his righteousness endures forever: his horn shall be exalted with honor.

The wicked shall see it and be grieved, he shall gnash with his teeth and melt away; The desire of the wicked shall perish.

Save us, O Lord, our God, and gather us from the nations. To give thanks to Thy Holy Name, and glory in Thy praise. Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting even until everlasting. And let all the people say Amen, blessed be the Lord.

Oh give thanks unto the  Lord, for He is good. For
His loving kindness is everlasting. Let the                redeemed of the Lord say        so, whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the adversary.

Fools, because of their rebellious way and because of their iniquities were afflicted. Their soul abhorred all kinds of food and they drew near to the gates of death. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble and He saved them out of their distresses.

He sent His word and healed them and delivered them from their destruction. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His loving kindness. And for His wonders to the sons of men. Let them also offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and tell of His works with joyful singing.

Holy holy holy, all
the saints adore Thee casting down  their golden  crowns around the glassy sea.
Cherubim and seraphim

falling down before Thee, which wert and art and evermore shall be.

EVOLUTION - PART TWO

                             EVOLUTION -    PART TWO
(copied from  Mark Cahill's      Book "One         heartbeat away.")

Many people don't believe that God created the universe because they can't imagine a Being that is eternal. 'Surely God must have a beginning,' they think. 'Where did He come from? Who made Him?'   If they don't have satisfactory answers, they refuse to believe.

I find it interesting that, before coming up with the "Big bang" theory, scientists believed that the earth was eternal. They couldn't explain how it came into being by itself, so the claimed  that  it simply always was. It had no beginning.

Scientists now proclaim that the universe began with a "big bang"  but that provides more questions than answers. There had to be something to go "bang". Where did the matter come from? What energy sauce caused the "bang?"  What was the catalyst that set the matter in motion to form the universe?  How could order come from disorder?

Think about that, if you think that matter existed for all eternity, and it had the ability to spontaneously start up the universe, and it was powerful enough and intelligent enough to put our immense universe together with order and precision and beauty - haven't you just defined God?

He is not as difficult to believe in as you may have thought.  You may not understand Him, but that is no reason to believe He does not exist.

I have added the note on the
left. It was not in Mark Cahill's book.

There is something in science called the Law of Cause an Effect.  This is an indisputable, universal law that says for every material effect there has to be a cause. There is nothing in the universe that does not have a cause behind its existence.

Your parents caused you, your grandparents caused your parents etc. but if you go further back there will not be an infinite regression. You must eventually reach a first cause, or an (uncaused) cause, which created the first cause.

Something just does not come out of nothing, all by itself, in other words, there had to be some causal agent that began the process and set our whole universe in motion.

The universe (an effect) cannot simply bring itself into being, it requires a cause that is outside itself.
If you placed all the pieces of a watch into a shoebox and shook it for a while, do you believe that it will shake into a functioning watch?

Of course not! There is no possible way for that to happen. And if it couldn't happen to something as relatively simple as a watch, it most certainly cannot happen by chance to our magnificently complex universe.

You may find it hard to believe that God could make everything out of nothing. But the alternative is that nothing turned itself into everything. Which one takes more faith to believe?

TWENTY SEVENTEEN - PART FOUR

                                       TWENTY SEVENTEEN                 - PART FOUR

   Hello folks,

It is now 17th January, I          have an appointment        with the specialist re "Warfarin"  Have done bloodtests and start treatment at 7.30 pm. Must have two blood tests a week and when correct dose is reached will only have one per month.

Wednesday 18th  We hear a crash from the vicinity of the kitchen and Charmaine shows us that a panel of the ceiling has now collapsed in the pantry.  I am not feeling too good healthwise.

Friday 20th, Message from Andy on Whatsapp - he is unable to install built-in-cupboards tomorrow as expected due to power failures at the factory.  Will install on Saturday 28th. Told him that would be okay as we must be out of here by Wednesday 31st.

Saturday 21st go for blood test and when Ruth tries to open the gate  it does not respond to the remote control and only opens half way, a foal escapes and Ruth has to go and look for Lucky so that he can go after the foal.

Sunday 22nd spent the whole day going through previously unpacked  boxes from our last move and repacking them. Charmaine worked today and was very helpful.  She really is a star. I don't know what we would have done without her.

Monday 23rd spend                 another day doing                    boxes, I am so very tired          - my brain no longer                wants to work - we managed to do approximately 21 boxes.

Tuesday 24th - Amandah informs Ruth that they are moving us on Friday27th.  What a shock. We are not near ready. We now have to move without the built in cupboards being done. Where will we pack our clothes etc.

Another blood test today and a doctor's visit - my  blood pressure is too high and doctor changes my medication.  Now on Twynsta in place of Ciplovasc, Bilocor and Ecotrin.

Fortunately the Warfarin is working but I  must continue with twice weekly blood test until the correct dose is found.

Wednesday 25th - Amandah informs us that they are moving us tomorrow - how many more shocks is she still going to inflict on us. The goal posts just keep moving. Just when we thought we were starting to get things under control along comes another bombshell.

Charmaine is so sweet she will come in at 6am tomorrow instead of 7am.  I am so tired. I don't know how long I will still be able to cope.  It is really getting too much for me now.

If I didn't have God as my saviour I think I would have have gone crazy  already.  It is He Who keeps me going.

MY FAVORITE PSALMS - PART FIFTY EIGHT

MY FAVORITE                                                        PSALMS - PART                                                    FIFTY EIGHT

Praise ye the Lord; I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.  The works of the Lord are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.

His work is honorable and glorious; and His righteousness endures forever.  He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and full of compassion.  He has given meat to them that fear Him and He will ever be mindful of His covenant.

He has shewn His people the power of His works, that He may give them the heritage of the heathen.  The works of His hands are verity and judgement; all His commandments are sure.  They stand fast forever and ever and are done in truth and uprightness.

He sent redemption unto His people; He has commanded His covenant forever; holy and reverend is His Name.

The fear of the Lord is            the beginning of                      wisdom; a good                        understanding have all            they that do His                        commandments: His                praise endures forever.

Praise the Lord. Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good. For His lovingkindness is everlasting. Who can speak of the mighty deeds of the Lord, or who can shew forth all His Praise?

How blessed are those who keep justice, who practice righteousness  at all times. Remember me, O Lord, in Thy favour toward Thy people: visit me with Thy salvation.

You are the God of all comfort, full of compassion. You comfort me in all of my troubles so that I can comfort those in trouble with the comfort wherewith You comfort me.

How great You are, O sovereign God! There is no one like You  and there is no God but You. You are perfect in power and in love and in purity.

Yours Lord is  the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour for everything in heaven and earth is Yours. Yours Lord is the Kingdom. You are exalted as head over all.

For from You and through You and for You are all things. Glory and power  are Yours forever and ever.

As surely as You live O Lord God, every knee shall bow and every tongue will acknowledge You.

I spread out my hands to You. I thirst for  You like a parched land. I need You O Lord, my God, my Saviour and my King.

WAS JESUS A REAL PERSON? (1)

                                         WAS JESUS A REAL        PERSON?

  part one
                                         (copied from Y-                    Jesus.com)

Did Jesus Christ really exist, or is Christianity a legend built upon a fictitious character like Harry Potter?

For nearly two thousand years most of our world considered Jesus a real man Who had exceptional character, leadership and power over nature, but today some are saying that He never existed.

The argument over Jesus' existence, known as the Christ-myth theory, began seventeen centuries after Jesus is said to have walked the rocky hills of Judea.

Ellen Johnson, president of  American Atheists  summarizes the Christ-myth on  CNN TV  Larry King Live.

"There is not one shred of  secular evidence there ever was a Jesus Christ... Jesus is a compilation from other gods.... who had the same origins, the same death as the mythological Jesus Christ"

The stunned host replied, "So you don't believe there was a Jesus Christ?"

Johnson fired  back "there was not, there is no secular evidence that Jesus Christ ever existed."  King immediately requested a commercial break.  The international television audience was left wondering.

In his early years as an       atheist Oxford literary         scholar C.S. Lewis also       considered Jesus a myth, thinking all religions were simply inventions.

Years later Lewis was sitting by a fire in a dorm room with a friend he called  'the hardest boiled atheist of all the atheists I ever knew.'  Suddenly his friend blurted out  "the evidence for the historicity of the gospels was really surprisingly good. It almost looks as if  had really happened once."

Lewis was stunned. His friend's remark that there was real evidence for Jesus prompted Lewis to investigate the truth for himself.

He writes about his search for truth in his book "Mere Christianity."

So what evidence did Lewis' friend discover for Jesus Christ?

EVOLUTION - PART ONE

  EVOLUTION -    PART ONE
(Copied from         Mark Cahill's       Book  "One         heartbeat
  away.")

Billions of years ago a dark substance began to evolve from nothing and it came from nowhere. There was a big bang. We don't know what caused  the big bang or why, but it happened.

As millions of years passed this substance developed a "fizz"  to it and it became sweet. Millions of years later some aluminium molecules  formed from nothing, gathered together and wrapped themselves around this liquid, in  the perfect shape of a cylinder.

The aluminium then formed a pop top on the cylinder.  Forty or fifty years ago some red and white molecules fell  onto the can forming the words "Coco-Cola" an expiry date and a complete list of ingredients.  Now isn't that amazing?

It would be an insult to your intellect if I insisted that the above scenario was true.  The universe is infinitely more complex than a can of coke, yet people are content to believe that it just came out of nowhere - that something came from nothing.
But if a can of coke and it's contents couldn't happen from random chance processes, how could something as orderly and intricately designed as our universe been assembled by mere chance? Logically we know that is impossible.

"In the                    beginning God      created the            heavens  and  the earth and        the earth was without form and  void."
                                      Genesis: 1: 1-2

Many people believe there is no God, because they think that science  has all the answers.  But does science alone explain this incredibly beautiful and complex universe in which we live. Doesn't its magnificence make you wonder?

How does the sun provide just the right amount of energy to light and heat our planet? What makes everything in our orderly world work so well together?

How is it that we can predict the exact day of the full moon or an eclipse of the sun? Or to determine when to expect a thunderstorm?  Where does lightning come from or a brilliant rainbow? We marvel at the beauty of sunsets, mountains, beaches, cloud formations, animals, plants and flowers.

Every time we look at something man-made , a house or mansion for example, we know it had a builder, someone who assembled it.  When we see something that has a design, like a watch, we know that it had to have a designer. When we see a painting we know there was an artist who painted it. When we see order, like 20 coke bottles lined up in a row we know there had to be an "orderer"  who set them up that way.

When we look at the universe, what do we see? We see Creation, Design, Art,  and Order. So if everything man-made has a creator, designer, artist, orderer behind it - why do we not think there is a Creator, Designer, Artist and Orderer
behind the Universe?

TWENTY SEVENTEEN - PART THREE

                                       TWENTY SEVENTEEN                                              - PART THREE

     Hello folks,

My appointment today with new doctor, VERY nice man. He is not happy with my health and says I must see a specialist. Ruth to make appointment. Ruth's blood pressure very high.

Wednesday the 11th, workmen come to fix the roof and will fix the ceiling on Friday 13th.

Thursday 12th  Andy sends drawing of built in cupboards - they will be ready by Friday 20th.

Friday 13th, Charmaine goes home early (11am) as she is not well. We give Andy approval for bics.
Andre contacts us he has a potential buyer for the coins.  Will come to view on Monday 16th at 10am.

I have an appointment with a  heart specialist on Tuesday 17th at 10.30am.  Danny has been in Johannesburg and this past week and on his return for the week-end his car breaks down in Magaliesburg.

Saturday 14th - Ryan's             35th birthday - Danny             phones Ruth to tow his             car back to Rustenburg.           There is trouble with the         gearbox.

Monday 16th, Stan and Gerhard arrive to view the coins. They inform us that we are hopelessly overpriced.  They will give us their offer later, When they phone they offer us R15000 for our R55000 collection.  How ridiculous is that?

Danny's gearbox is going to cost him R14,500 to fix. He doesn't know what he is going to do.

MY FAVORITE PSALMS - PART FIFTY SEVEN

MY FAVORITE                                                        PSALMS - PART                                                    FIFTY SEVEN

O God, my heart is fixed, I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.  Awake psaltery and harp; I myself will awake early.  I will praise Thee O Lord, among the people and I will sing praises to Thee among the nations.

For Thy mercy is great above the heavens, and Thy truth reaches unto the clouds. Be Thou exalted O God, above the heavens, and Thy glory above all the earth; that Thy beloved may be delivered; save with Thy right hand and answer me.

God has spoken in His holiness; I will rejoice , I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.  Gilead is mine, Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; Moab is my wash pot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe, over Phillistia will I triumph.

Who will bring me forth into the strong city? who  will lead me into Edom?  Wilt Thou not,  O God, Who has cast us off? And will not Thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?

Give us help from trouble for vain is the help of man.  Through God we shall do valiantly for He it is that shall tread down our enemies.

I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.  I am gone like the shadow when it declines. I am tossed up and down like the locust.

My knees are weak                   through my fasting;                 and my flesh fails of                 fatness. I became also             a reproach unto them;             when they look upon me they shake their heads.

Help me, O Lord, my God, O save me according to Thy mercy. That they may know that this is Your hand; that You O Lord have done it. Let them curse; but bless Thou. When they arise, let them be ashamed, but let Thy servant rejoice.

Let my adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.

I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth, yea, I will praise Him among the multitude. For He shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those who condemn his soul.

IS JESUS GOD ? (10) COULD JESUS HAVE BEEN SELF-DECEIVED?

                                                IS JESUS GOD?

       (copied from
        Y-Jesus.com)

COULD JESUS HAVE                    BEEN SELF- DECEIVED?

Albert Schweitzer, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1952, for his humanitarian efforts, had his own views about Jesus.  Schweitzer concluded that insanity was behind Jesus' claim to be God. In other words Jesus was wrong about His claims, but didn't intentionally lie. According to this theory, Jesus was deluded in actually believing He was the Messiah.

Lewis considered this option carefully. He deduced that if Jesus' claims weren't true, then  He must have been insane.  Lewis reasons that someone claimed to be God would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on a level with a man who says he is a poached egg - or else he would be the devil of hell.

Most who have studied Jesus' life and words, acknowledge  Him as extremely rational. Although his own life was filled with immorality and personal skepticism, the renowned  French philosopher, Jean-Jasques Rosseau (1712-1778) acknowledged Jesus' superior character and presence of mind, stating "when Plato describes his imaginary righteous man ...  he describes  exactly the character of Christ...if the life and death of Socrates are that of a philosopher, the life and death of  Jesus Christ are that of a God. "

Bono concludes that 'a nutcase' is the last thing you can label Jesus.

"so what you are left with     is either Christ was Who
He said He was or a
complete nutcase. I  mean  we are talking nutcase on  the level of  Charles Manson.... I'm not joking here.  The idea that the entire course of civilization for over half of the globe could have it's fate       changed and turned upside down by a nutcase, for me, that's far-fetched....."

So, was Jesus a lunatic or was He the Son of God?   Could Jefferson have been right by labeling Jesus as  " only a good moral teacher "  while denying His deity?  Interestingly, the audience who heard Jesus, - both believers and enemies - never regarded Him as a mere moral teacher. Jesus produced three  primary effects in the people who met Him., hatred, terror, or adoration.

The claims of Jesus Christ force us to choose. As Lewis stated, "we cannot put Jesus in the category of being just a great religious leader or a good  moral teacher."  This former skeptic challenges us to  make up our own minds about Jesus, stating:

"You must make your choice. Either this Man was and is the Son of God or else a madman or something worse.  You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon, or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God.  But let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human  teacher.  He has not left that open to us."

In "Mere Christianity,"  Lewis explores the options regarding the identity of Jesus, concluding that He is exactly Who He claimed to be.  His careful examination of the life and words  of Jesus led this great literary genius to renounce his former atheism and become a Christian.

The greatest question of all time is  "Who is the real Jesus Christ?"  Bono, Lewis and countless others have concluded that God visited our planet in human form. But if that is true then we would expect Him to be alive today. And that is exactly what His followers believe.

Did Jesus really rise from the dead?

The eyewitnesses to Jesus Christ actually spoke and acted like they believed He physically rose from the dead after His crucifixion.  If they were wrong then Christianity has been founded upon a lie. But if they were right, such a miracle would substantiate all Jesus said about God, Himself and us.

But must we take the resurrection of Jesus Christ by faith alone or is there solid historical evidence ?   Several skeptics began investigations into the historical record to prove  the resurrection account false. What did they discover?

TWENTY SEVENTEEN - PART TWO

                                        TWENTY SEVENTEEN                     PART TWO

                                         Hello folks,

It is now 4th January, I have a hives attack at 1 am and another at 5 am. Took another allergex.  Ruth is feeling a little better but cannot contact Doctor. His phone just rings. He is definitely not back from leave.

Thursday 5th January - Ruth is feeling better and goes off to do our shopping and have a haircut.   Friday 6th I have another hives attack in left arm and hand. Prospective tenants come to view the house.

Saturday 7th - We have a very big storm and lots of rain which we so desperately need, so I am not complaining.  Jeff phones and we chat on "Messenger", and have some good laughs, making fun of the situation. It is so true that laughter is the best medicine.

I am feeling so much better and chat to Paul on "Whatsapp" .

Sunday 8th - wake up               and find that a panel of the ceiling in the lounge has collapsed because of too much rain and a leak in the roof. The floor is covered in rubble. Ruth takes pictures and sends them off to Amandah via "Whatsapp"

Daniel arrives and does some minor repairs to my desk, my torch and to the door of our fridge the one that still works.

Monday 9th - A young lady and her little girl come to view the house, she falls in love with it despite the ceiling on the floor - and will bring her husband at 6pm to have a look.  They take the house and we must move  (we think) by end of January.

At last Ruth gets an appointment with doctor for both of us with his temporary replacement. He apparently had a heart attack and had to have a "bypass"   that was the reason we couldn't contact him.

I choked again in my sleep in the middle of the night. I am wide awake now and writing up this blog.  I am so tired and weary - not looking forward to the move but it is for the better - it has to be done and our Heavenly Father will bring us through.  This too will pass.  He has been so awesome in the way He has protected and sustained us - We thank Him and praise Him and glorify His Name.

IS JESUS GOD? (9) A LEGACYwere to simply

                                                  IS JESUS GOD ?

                                                    (copied from
                                                     Y-Jesus.com)

                                                                          A LEGACY

So if Jesus was above lying for personal benefit, perhaps His radical claims were falsified in order to leave a legacy. But the prospect of being beaten to a pulp and nailed to a cross would quickly dampen the enthusiasm of of most would-be superstars.

Here is another haunting fact. If Jesus were to have simply dropped the claim of being God's Son, He never would have been condemned.  It was His claim to be God and His unwillingness to recant of it that got Him crucified.

If enhancing His credibility and  historical reputation was what motivated  Jesus to lie, one must explain how a carpenter's son from a poor Judean village could ever anticipate the events that would catapult His Name to worldwide prominence.  How would He know His message would survive?  Jesus' disciples had fled, and Peter had denied Him. Not exactly the formula for launching a religious legacy.

Do historians believe          Jesus lied?   Scholars          have scrutinized                    Jesus' words and life            to see if there is any              defect in his  moral              character.

In fact, even the most ardent skeptics are stunned   by Jesus' moral and  ethical purity.

According to  historian Phillip Schaff, there is no evidence, either in Church history or in secular history that Jesus lied about anything. Schaff argued, "How in the name of logic, common sense and experience, could a  deceitful, selfish and depraved man have invented and consistently maintained from the beginning to end, the purest and noblest character known in history with the most perfect  air of truth and reality?

To go with the option of liar seems to swim upstream against everything Jesus taught, lived and died for.  To most scholars it just doesn't make sense.  Yet to deny Jesus' claims, one must come up with some explanation. And if Jesus' claims are not true and He wasn't lying, the only option remaining is that He must have been self-deceived.

MY FAVORITE PSALMS - PART FIFTY SIX

MY FAVORITE                                                        PSALMS - PART                                                   FIFTY SIX

O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good., for His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.

And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north and from the south. They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way, they found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.  And He led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

O that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the council of the Most High, therefore He brought down their heart with labour;  they fell down, and there was none to help. Then they  cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of the darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands asunder.

Oh that men would praise       the Lord for His goodness,  and for His wonderful works  to the children of men! For He has broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.

Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.  Their soul abhors all manner of meat, and they draw near unto the gates of death.  Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble and He saves them out of their distresses.  He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.

Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!  And let them  sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing.

They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters. These see the works of the Lord, and His wonder in the deep; For He commands and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up the waves thereof. They mount up to the heaven and go down again to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble; They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits end.

Then they cry unto the             Lord in their trouble,               and He brings them out of       their distresses. He makes       the storm calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

Then they are glad because they be quiet, so He brings them unto their desired haven.

Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them exalt Him also in the congregation of the people, and praise Him in the assembly of the elders.

He turns rivers into a wilderness and the water springs into dry ground. A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of those who dwell therein. He turns the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into water springs. And there He makes the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation.

And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase. He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly and suffers not their cattle to decrease.

Again they are brought low through oppression, affliction and sorrow. He pours contempt upon princes, and causes them to wander in the where there is n way.  Yet He sets the poor on high from affliction, and makes Him families like a flock.

The righteous shall see it and rejoice, and all iniquity shall stop her mouth. Whoso is wise and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the Lord.
