TWENTY SIXTEEN - PART THIRTY TWO

TWENTY SIXTEEN                 - PART THIRTY TWO

  Hello folks,

So now I have decided  that in view of my  research regarding the   lazer treatment - if                 authorisation is granted - I  will put it on hold for a few days, at least until my eyes are feeling    better.  I just cannot  face making them any worse than they already are.

Another reason for my decision is that after one visit to town, I usually need a week to recover from the exhaustion - there is no way I can face two of these visits in  a row.

This morning I explain my decision to Ruth. She is very annoyed with me. She does not understand, my reasoning, she thinks that I am afraid of the lazer treatment.

I fully intend to do the lazer treatment, even though there are certain risks involved, because if all goes well, it will enable me to see better - I only want to be in a better position to do so.

Medical Aid authorizes  lazer treatment - I put it            on hold.

The eye treatment is  very involved; it takes up my whole day. Starting when I wake up in the morning (three times a day) I have to wash my eyes and eyelids thoroughly with Elizabeth Anne's Baby Shampoo - the pink one  (avoid getting it in the eyes) .  I have to gently massage it onto the eyelids and lashes (one eye at a time) then rinse it off with plain water  and a cotton swab - discard swab - and finish off by wiping it dry with a  clean dry cotton swab again discarding the swab.

Then morning and afternoon after doing this treatment  I have to massage a very small amount of eye ointment onto the eyelids and lashes and last thing at night I have to do the same but also have to put the same eye ointment into my eyes.

On top of this I have other eye drops that I have to use six times a day in both eyes, fortunately without the cleansing ritual.

Praise be to God -He gives me the strength and the ability to do this. It might sound trivial but to me it is not.

JOKES - BLONDE

                                           JOKES BLONDE

A Blonde, a brunette      and a redhead got lost    in the forest. Then they  found a lamp, rubbed it and a genie popped out.

The genie told them they could each have   one wish:

The Redhead said:  I wish I was back at home!
(poof she was gone)

The Brunette said:  I wish I was back home with   my family!
(poof she too was gone)

The Blonde said:   I wish  my friends were here!
(poof they were both back)

MY FAVORITE PSALMS - PART THIRTY TWO

MY FAVORITE PSALMS                          - PART THIRTY TWO

God is greatly to be feared  in the assembly of the saints; and to be had in reverence of all them that are about Him.

O Lord of hosts, who is a strong Lord like unto Thee?  Or to Thy faithfulness round about Thee?

Thou rulest the raging of the sea; when the waves thereof arise, Thou stillest them Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; Thou hast scattered Thine enemies with Thy strong arm.

The heavens are Thine, the earth also is Thine;
as for the world and the fullness thereof, Thou hast founded them.

The north and the south Thou hast created them, Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in Thy Name.

Thou hast a mighty arm; strong is Thy hand and high is Thy right hand.

Justice and judgement are the habitation of Thy throne; mercy and truth shall go before Thy face; Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound, they shall walk, O Lord God, in the light of Thy countenance.

In Thy Name shall they          rejoice all the day; and in       Thy righteousness shall           they be exalted.

For Thou art the glory of their strength, and in Thy favour shall our horn be exalted. For the Lord is our defense and the holy One of Israel is our King. Blessed be the Lord forevermore.

Lord, Thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting Thou art God.

Thou turnest men to destruction and sayeth return ye children of men.

For a thousand years in Thy sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

Thou carried them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep; in the morning they are as grass that groweth up and in evening it is cut down and withereth; For we are consumed by Thy anger and by Thy wrath we are troubled.

AWESOME GOD - PLAN OF SALVATION - PART FIVE

                                            AWESOME GO

                           PLAN OF SALVATION
                                                       part five

                                                                copied from ESV Bible

Do you believe ?

The last verse (John 11:26) actually ends with Jesus asking ,

"Do you believe this ?"

It is a question that every person must answer: Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God ?  Is Jesus the object of your faith ?

Not faith in ritual, not faith in sacrifice, not faith in morals, not faith in yourself.

Do you believe that Jesus died on the cross to free you from the guilt and judgement of sin? Do you believe that He rose from the grave, breaking the power of death and making a way for you to have eternal life in heaven ?

If so, you may express your faith in Him by praying this prayer:

Heavenly Father, I believe that Jesus Christ in Your Son and that He died on the cross to save me from my sin. I believe that He rose again to life, and that He invites me to live forever with Him as part of Your family. Because of what Jesus has done, I ask you to forgive me of my sin and give me eternal life. I invite You to come into my heart and life.  I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord.  Help me to live in a way that pleases and honors You.  Amen.

Growing in Christ.

Once you have received the gift of eternal life and have been made a new creation
(2nd Corinthians 5:17), you will want to grow in your knowledge of Jesus and your obedience to Him.

Jesus' teaching about how to live for God can be summed up in three simple instructions:

Read the Bible,  Pray and seek Christian fellowship.

TWENTY SIXTEEN - PART THIRTY ONE

TWENTY SIXTEEN                                                - PART THIRTY ONE

                                                         Hello folks,

Sunday 7th August,                  Steve, Sue and Andy                arrive for arranged visit.         We explain that we have            no idea what is going to           happen.  We have now  tried every avenue and nothing has worked, so we are now waiting on the Lord for a miracle.  Which we have been doing  all along but we had to try everything from our side, to keep doors open.

Everything went smoothly . Very pleasant visit.

16th August   - Marieta's and Thea's birthdays today.

My eyes are now so bad, I have an appointment with the eye specialist today.  Steve had to pay R850 for visit in advance as Medical Aid is depleted. Also R355 for medication after I had seen the specialist.

Doctor did tests etc, and it was found that my "cataract lenses" which were done in 1995 and 1997 needed "polishing" by lazer as they had become dull over the years. Apparently it should be done every second year.

When doctor heard that medical aid funds were depleted he said that the medical aid usually paid for this treatment  which cost R2,200, regardless.
However, as it was already late afternoon we were unable to get authorization.

It was arranged that I could come back at 1.30pm the next day, for the treatment because by then they would have had authorization.

When I told the doctor             that I usually had a lot             of pus in my eyes he                 said there was no sign             of it now., but as the                 lenses were so bad he               could not see beyond               them.

When I got home, an hour and a half later, there was a big blog of pus sitting on the corner of my left eye.  Also while tests were being done the nurse, because I am hard of hearing, asked Ruth whether I wore glasses and when Ruth nodded she asked Ruth for them and then instructed me to put them on before she did a  test where I had to read a chart at a distance.

This seemed wrong to me as they are merely reading glasses and not meant for long distance. I could see the chart better without the glasses on. When I queried this with the doctor later, he agreed and redid the test without the glasses.

Tonight before going to sleep, I research the Lazer method on "google"  and find that one of the side effects can be inflammation of te eyes.  So I decided that as I already have enough inflammation, before doing the lazer treatment I will give my eyes a few days of the doctor's treatment to get them into a better state.

JOKES - BLONDE

                                             JOKES - BLONDE

Three ladies were trapped on an island. One was blonde, another was brunette and the third was a redhead.

The nearest shore was fifty miles away:

The Redhead was the first to decide to try to make it to the other shore - she managed twenty miles then drowned and died.

Then the brunette tried and managed to swim twenty five miles then drowned and died.

The blonde swam thirty miles, got tired and swam back.

MY FASVORITE PSALMS - PART THIRTY ONE

MY FAVORITE PSALMS                         - PART
THIRTY

Sing aloud unto God our  strength.  Make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. Take a Psalm and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp and the psaltery.

Blow the trumpet in the new moon. In the time appointed, in our solemn feast day.

How amiable are Thy tabernacles O Lord of hosts. My soul longeth, yea even fainteth  for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Yea, the sparrow hath found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.

Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house they will still be praising Thee. Selah.

Blessed is the man whose strength is in Thee. In whose heart are the ways of them. Who passing through the valleys of Baca make it a well: the rain also filleth the pools. They go from strength to strength., every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

O Lord, God of hosts, hear my prayer

"hear, O My people and           I will testify unto thee:            O Israel, If thou wilt                hearken unto Me.
There shall no strange            god be in thee. Neither            shalt thou worship any            strange god. I am the Lord      your God, which brought       you out of the land of Egypt: open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

But My people would not hearken to My voice: And Israel would have none of Me. So I gave them up to their own heart's lust and they walked in their own councils.

Oh that My people had hearkened unto Me. And Israel had walked in My ways! I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned My hand against their adversaries.

The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto Him: but their time should have endured forever. He should have fed them with the finest of the wheat, and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

AWESOME GOD - PLAN OF SALVATION PART FOUR

                                         AWESOME GOD

 PLAN OF SALVATION
                                                                         PART FOUR

       copied from ESV Bible

Why do we need to be saved?

So why do we need to be saved?  Jesus said :

"Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin." (John 8:34)

If we are honest with ourselves, we cannot deny that from the moment of our birth we have done wrong things - things that make us guilty before God and deserving His judgement. The Bible calls these wrong things sins, and sin separates us from God. And because we are separated from God, we face the awful prospect of  "the wrath of God"
(John 3:36)  which is eternal.

Jesus is the Only Way

Can anyone save us from God's wrath and assure us of heaven ?  Some people believe they can get to heaven by doing good works, or by following the teachings of a religion or even by giving money to churches or charities. But Jesus clearly said that none of these things would save us.

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through Me."
 (John 14:6)

He did not say that He simply  knew the way to heaven; Jesus said that He is the only way to heaven.  No human effort can give us eternal life. Christ and Christ alone, is the one and only Redeemer.

In fact the only "work" that can save us is the "work"  of believing in what Jesus has done to accomplish our salvation:  "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him Who He has sent"
(John 6:29) and to those who so believe the promise of God stands firm: "... to all who did receive Him, who believed in His Name,  He gave the right to become the children of God."
(John 1:12)

How does Jesus save us ?

   John the Baptist                    calls Jesus:

"The Lamb of God               Who takes away the             sins of the world."
    (John 1:29)

Jesus came into this world, knowing what it would cost Him. And He explains that salvation comes through His death on the cross as the perfect sufficient sacrifice for our sins (John 3:14-15) He bore in His pure being the fullness of sin that God might forgive sinners and make them pure. And the price of Christ's bearing those sins was death. The gates of salvation are open wide to all who accept His invitation to enter by faith.

Chapters 18 and 19 of John describe Jesus' death, and then chapter 20 describes His glorious triumph over death as He rose from the dead.  Jesus' resurrection means that He can give eternal life to all who believe in Him.

"I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die."  (John 11: 25-26)

TWENTY SIXTEEN - PART THIRTY

                                             TWENTY SIXTEEN               - PART THIRTY

                                                    Hello folks,

We sent SMS's to  Steve,          Andy and Ryan  requesting      advice re; Paypal situation.

Steve provides me with Paypal's contact page. Have now sent them an email - must wait another 24 hours for answer.

Saturday 16th July - Vlooi very sick.  Vomits continuously - she has nothing left in her stomach so only brings up water.  No money for Vet.

Ruth gets advice from a friend and we spend the weekend nursing our little sick dog.  She is so ill we don't know whether she will survive.

Sunday 17th - miraculously we are given R2000 by a friend. Just in time we only have one small bowl of dog pellets left.

Monday 18th July - 6 am . We have now waited 62 hours for Paypal's reply - sent another email - wait another 24 hours.

Midnight gave Vlooi her hourly doze of water from a syringe.  Fifteen minutes later she get off the bed for the first time in more than three days and goes to the water bowl on her own and has a very good drink. Very good sign.   Thanking the Lord.

Tuesday 19th -  9.45am  still no reply from Paypal.
Another miracle  today - another close friend pays R500  into my banking account as I have run  out of airtime and data and batteries.

July 22nd  Vlooi up                   and about. Fully                       recovered.

    Praise be to God.

I have had another big hiccup with Vodacom - too complicated to go into - it would take up more than one post.  Suffice it to say they always win - you just sit back and watch them put their hands in the cookie jar and you can do absolutely nothing about it.  Trying to complain is like hitting your own head repeatedly against a solid brick wall. You are the only one getting hurt.  Let it go. Just  stay humble.

5th August - late afternoon - Steve phoned - he and Andy are coming to see us tomorrow to see what is going on here.  I think they are also worried about where our next rent is coming from.

A man boards a plane     accompanied by six       young children.

After he has settled them all down in their seats and given them some story books to keep them occupied during the trip he settles down in his own seat.

A fellow passenger leans over and asks him whether they are all his biological children as they seem to be more or less in the same age group.

"No, "   he replies, "I work for a condom Company and these are some of the customer complaints."

MY FAVORITE PSALMS - PART THIRTY

MY FAVORITE              PSALMS - PART            THIRTY

Teach me Thy way, O Lord  I will walk in Thy truth: unite my heart to fear Thy Name

I will praise Thee  O Lord my God with all my heart and I will glorify Thy Name forevermore.
For great is Thy mercy towards me: and Thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

But Thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and plenteous in mercy and truth.

O turn to me and have mercy upon me, give Thy strength unto Thy servant and save the son of Thy handmaid.

Shew me a token for good, which they that hate me may see it and be ashamed: because Thou Lord has holpen and comforted me.

His foundation is in the holy mountains. The Lord loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.

O Lord, God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before Thee. Let my prayer come before Thee, incline Thine ear unto my cry. For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draweth nigh unto the grave. I am counted with them that go down into the pit.  I am a man that has no strength.

Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom Thou rememberest no more; and  they are cut off from Thy hand.

Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness in the deeps.  Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and Thou hath afflicted me with all Thy waves.
Selah.

Thou hast put away my           acquaintances far from           me; Thou hast made me         an abomination unto               them. I am shut up and           cannot come forth. My             eye mourneth by reason           of affliction. Lord I  have       called daily upon  Thee; I       have stretched  out my hands unto Thee.

Wilt Thou shew wonders to the dead? Shall the dead arise and praise Thee? Selah.

Shall Thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave?  Or Thy faithfulness in destruction?

Shall Thy wonders be known in the dark? and Thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

But unto Thee I have cried, O Lord, and in the morning shall my prayer prevent Thee.

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations.  For I have said,
Mercy shall be built up forever.  Thy faithfulness shalt Thou establish in the very heavens.

And the heavens shall praise Thy wonders O Lord, Thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints. For who in the heaven can be compared unto the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the Lord?

AWESOME GOD - PLAN OF SALVATION (PART THREE)

                                             AWESOME
                                             GOD

                                              PLAN OF SALVATION
                                                                    (part three)

                                                             copied  from ESV Bible

The extraordinary good news of Eternal life.

The Gospel of John tells the redemptive story of  what Jesus Christ did in our behalf.

Summarizing his Gospel John says "these are written so that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and by believing you may have life  in His Name." (John 20:31  )
Read on as we examine what the apostle  John has to say in his Gospel about the eternal life we receive through Jesus Christ.

The Son of God

John Wants to show us Who Jesus really is:

"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God ...... and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us."
 (John 1:1, 14.

Jesus, during His life on earth was God in human form! And just in case John's introduction isn't clear enough, a few sentences later he quotes John the Baptist who says,

"I have seen and borne witness that this is the Son of God."   (John 1:34)

Throughout the book            John gives evidences            of Jesus' deity - that              Jesus performed many          miracles

(John 2:1-11, 4:46-54, 5:1-17, 6:1-13, 6:16-21,
9:1-7, 11:38-44) and that He fulfilled prophecies written about Him  centuries before
 (John 2:13-22, 3:14, 5:46, 12:14-16.)

God's Love

But why would Jesus, Who is God, leave heaven to live on earth as a human?

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. "  (John 3:16-17)

God saw us as we were, dead in our sin. That is why Jesus came.  God is a forgiving God Whose Love and Patience call all to repent of their sins.

RECIPE TIME - SOUSKLUITJIES (dumplings)

                                              FEATHERLIGHT
                                            " SOUSKLUITJIES"
         (dumplings)

Ingredients:

4 tablespoons cake flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon butter
                                          1 egg
                                           half cup milk
                                           half teaspoon salt
                                           1 tspn baking powder

Method:

Cream the butter and the sugar. Set aside. Beat eggs add milk and beat again. Set aside. Mix flour, salt and baking powder.

Now add a little of the flour mixture to the creamed butter and mix well then add a little of the milk and egg, mix well. Alternate in this way until all  ingredients are mixed and you have a
stiffish dough (not so stiff that it will not drip -  add a bit more milk if necessary).

Boil 3 cups water in a saucepan, when boiling remove from the stove and drip spoonfuls of the dough into the boiling water.  Put the lid on the saucepan and put the saucepan back onto the stove and simmer slowly for fifteen minutes without lifting the lid.

Now place the dumplings into a warm dish or bowl and sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and ground cinnamon.  Also add a few pats of butter.

TWENTY SIXTEEN - PART TWENTY NINE

                                           TWENTY SIXTEEN              PART TWENTY                    NINE

                                           Hello folks,

Ruth has put her ring  valued at R7000 on  OLX through Daniel earlier this week.

Now have an interested buyer. He and Ruth will meet the interested party  halfway,   at Hartebeesport dam tomorrow.

14th July Ruth borrows R200 from Danny for diesel to get there.  After all that the guy only wants to pay R2000  - what a waste of time and money.

Danny spends the rest of the day with us - from approximately 2pm to 6pm trying to sort out Paypal's verification.  Lots of confusion. Eventually he discovers that Ruth spelt a word wrong in my email address so although Paypal received the money the verification was sent to a non-existent email address.

Don't know what to do next.  Looks as though we will never get a transcription job up and running  to meet our obligations.   The end of August is looming on the horizon - we need to make the rent for a roof over our heads.

Fighting hard to keep my faith.  I know that I am "Saved"   I never ever doubt that, but now all sorts of thoughts run rampant in my mind.

"Maybe it is not God's will for me to do transcription work. Maybe this is why I am being blocked at every turn.  But if this is so, where will our rent come from at the end of August?  Steve and Andy cannot do more than they are already doing and Daniel has his own problems.

"Don't think this way,"   I           admonish myself ,
" Trust God.  He is in                  control."

"This plan of Mine is not what you would work out, neither are My ways your ways, for just as the heavens are higher than the earth so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts."
Isaiah  55: 8

Wait upon the Lord - He is teaching us this lesson.

JOKES

                                                JOKES

A man who appears to    be as bit "tipsy"  boards  a train takes a seat next  to a priest, settles down  and opens his                  newspaper.

His tie is stained and askew. His face is smeared with a bright red lipstick in the shape of smudged  lips and a half a bottle of gin is sticking out of his torn coat pocket. His hair looks as if it last saw  a comb a week ago and he smells of old beer.

After a while he looks up from his newspaper and says,

"Father what causes a person to get arthritis?"

"Well son, it is caused from too much alcohol, looseliving, sleeping around with prostitutes, and  lack of hygiene,"

"Well I am really shocked. I didn't know that."

and he returns to his newspaper.

Thinking about what he has just said, the priest nudges the man and apologizes

"I am truly sorry about that, I really didn't mean to come on so strong. How long have you had arthritis?"

"Oh, I don't have it father. I was just reading an article in this newspaper that says that the Pope has it."

MY FAVORITE PSALMS - PART TWENTY NINE

MY FAVORITE              PSALMS - PART            TWENTY NINE

I will hear what  God,  the Lord will speak.           For He will speak peace unto His people. And to His saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

Surely His mercy is nigh them who fear Him that glory may dwell in our land.

Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth shall spring out of the earth and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

Yea the Lord shall give that which is good and our land shall yield her increase. Righteousness shall go before Him and shall set us in the way of His steps.

Bow down Thine ear and hear me for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul for I am holy. O Thou my God save Thy servant that trusteth in Thee.

Be merciful unto me O Lord, for I cry daily unto Thee.

Rejoice the soul of Thy servant; for unto Thee O Lord do I lift up my soul. For Thou O Lord art good and ready to forgive: and plenteous in mercy, unto them that call upon Thee.

Give ear, O Lord, unto            my prayer and attend              to the voice of my                    supplications. In the                day of my trouble I will            call upon Thee, for                  Thou will answer  me.

Among the gods there is none like unto Thee., O Lord, neither are there any works like unto Thy works.

All nations which Thou hast made shall come and worship before Thee, O Lord, and shall glorify Thy Name.  For Thou art great and doest wondrous things. Thou art God alone.
