WAS JESUS A REAL PERSON - PART SIX

                                             WAS JESUS A
 REAL PERSON

        Part Six

   (copied from
    Y-Jesus.com)

Historical facts about Jesus

These early non-Christian sources provide the following facts about Jesus Christ.

*   Jesus was from Nazareth.
*   Jesus lived a wise and virtuous life.
*   Jesus was crucified in Judea under
Pontius Pilate, during the reign of
    Tiberius Caesar, at  Passover time
    being considered the Jewish King
*  Jesus was believed by His disciples to
have died and risen from the dead
    three days later.
*   Jesus' enemies acknowledged that
     He performed unusual feats.
*   Jesus' disciples multiplied rapidly,
     spreading as far as Rome.
*   Jesus disciples lived moral lives and
     worshiped Christ as God.

This general outline of Jesus' life agrees perfectly with the New Testament.

Gary Habarmas notes:  In total about one-third of these non-Christian sources date from the first century, a majority originate no later than the mid-second century.  According to the Encyclopedia Britannica   "These independent accounts prove that in ancient times even the opponents of Christianity never doubted the historicity of Jesus.

Early Christian accounts.

Early Christians wrote thousands of letters and commentaries about Jesus. Also, creeds which speak of Jesus, appeared as early as five years after His crucifixion.

These non-biblical writings confirm most New Testament details about Jesus including His crucifixion and resurrection.

Incredibly over 36,000 complete or partial writings have been discovered, some from first century.  These non-biblical writings could reconstruct the entire New Testament except for a few verses.

Each of these writes of Jesus as a real Person. Christ-mythers disregard these accounts as biased  But the question they must answer is How could a mythical Jesus have so much written about Him  within a few decades of His life?

WHERE DOES YOUR SOU L GO WHEN YOU DIE? 3

WHERE DOES                                                               YOUR                                                             SOUL GO WHEN                                YOU DIE?

         3

Fortunately for us, God is very loving and kind, and compassionate and also very patient. He allows us to choose and when we choose the wrong path He does not bring out the big guns and blow us off the planet.

He foresaw our frailties and He provided us with  the remedy - He gave us the Bible (road map) for our journey here on earth. In this road map He shows us time and time again that His Son Jesus Christ, would be born of a virgin and would die (and rise again) to set us free from the curse of sin and death.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him might not perish but have everlasting life."  John 3:16

You might be tempted here as so many others before you have done, to tell me that the Bible is just a book written by a bunch of clever Jews and some have even gone so far as to claim that Jesus Christ never existed - then answer me this?

Jesus marshalled no army, wrote no books, and changed no laws, yet more books have been written about Him than any other person in the history of mankind. Most of the human race date their calendars from the date of His birth. His public ministry on earth only lasted for three years yet He has been the dominant figure in the Western culture for more than twenty centuries.

Millions pray to Him, and millions of others use His name to curse. Schools, universities, hospitals and humanitarian works have been founded in His Name.

What does that tell you?

TWENTY SEVENTEEN - PART NINE

                                                     TWENTY SEVENTEEN               - PART NINE

    Hello Folks,

It is now Sunday 5th                February, resting day.  The      house flies here are intolerable due to the stables being in such close proximity. Spraying with "doom" is virtually non effective. It kills them but the new lot are back in seconds.  Burning the repellent candle also does not really do much good.

I have now mixed some essential lavender oil with some aqueous cream and that seems to repel them for a little longer when I smear it on my skin.

Monday 6th February, Charmaine is off sick today, she suffers with a stomach ulcer.

Tuesday 7th - Today is blood test day again - we decide to lock Harry in the kitchen by himself so that he can't get out of my window. While Ruth is locking up the back door Harry has already managed to get onto the kitchen window sill. I watch him from my vantage point where I sit in
the car and am quite amused.

Ruth gets into the car              and I tell her to take a              look at Harry's frantic              endeavors and lo and              behold he lifts the latch  and out he comes.  What a shock. Never ever expected that.

Fortunately we were still here when that happened and we were able to retrieve him and obviously took him with us. We have now named him Houdini.  We also buy him a new harness as we don't know where his old one is.

We also now have to take him with us when we go anywhere in order to keep him safe, and as Ruth feels sorry for Benjy we take him with as well. Certainly not comfortable going to town.

Later I get  my IRN reading  it is now 2.20. The next test is 21st February.

Wednesday 8th - the house is filthy, last cleaned properly was Friday 3rd.  Thursday 9th - have a bad night due to lightning , Harry is terrified of it and gives me no respite.

Learn to be content.

EVOLUTION - PART SIX

  EVOLUTION -             PART SIX

(copied from Mark Cahill's book -A heartbeat away)

The first assertion of macroevolution is that living matter came from non-living matter. There is only  one problem with that.  It has been shown to be impossible. The scientific method requires repeatable observations to prove something, yet despite scientist's earnest attempts, they have never been able to create life from non-life.  In fact the opposite is the case.

Evolutionist Michael Moe admitted that " a century of sensational discoveries in the biological sciences has taught us that life arises only from life."

Therefore it is unscientific  and inaccurate for evolutionists to claim that spontaneous generation occurred - that is that non-living chemicals produced living organisms in the distant past.

Since the law of Biogenesis  dictates that life come only from life, this should raise a question in our minds: Where did the first life in the universe come from?  If life always comes from life, the only logical conclusion is that life has always existed. Remember there cannot be an effect without a cause, and the effect cannot be greater than its cause.  Therefore the only possibility is that we came from an eternal living Creator.

Nobel Prize Winner  Francis Crick stated :

"The great majority of sequences (required for life can never be synthesized at all, at any time,  .... an honest man armed with all the information available to us now , could only state that in some sense the origin of life appears to be almost a miracle, so many are the conditions which would have had to be satisfied to get it going."

In addition to life arising only from life, the Law of Biogenesis  also states that life only perpetuates its own kind .  Each creature's genes are  uniquely programmed to reproduce only within the same species.  This explains why whales produce only whales, cows produce cows, ants produce ants. and humans produce humans - which leads us tot the next problem with evolution.

Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart, in the company of the upright and in the assembly.

Great are the works of the Lord;  They are studied by all who delight in them.
Splendid and majestic is His work; and
His righteousness endures forever.

He has made His wonders to be remembered.
The Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He has given food to those who fear Him.

He will remember His covenant forever.
He has made known to His people the power of His works.
In giving them the heritage of the nations.

The works of His hands are truth and justice;
All His precepts are sure.
They are upheld forever and ever.
They are performed in truth and uprightness.

He has sent redemption to His people;
He has ordained His covenant forever.
Holy and awesome is His Name.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.

His praise endures forever.

WAS JESUS A REAL PERSON/? PART FIVE

                                                 WAS JESUS A                  REAL PERSON?
                                                 Part Five
                                                 (copied from
      Y-Jesus.com)

Roman Historians

Early Roman historians wrote primarily of events and people important in their empire. Since Jesus wasn't of immediate importance to the military or political affairs of Rome, very little Roman history referenced Him. However, two important Roman historians, Tacitus and  Suetonias, do acknowledge Jesus as a real person.

Tacitus (a.d. 55-120), the greatest early Roman historian wrote that Christus (Greek for Christ)  had lived during the reign of  Tiberius and  "suffered under Pontius Pilate , that Jesus' teachings had already spread to Rome; and that Christians were considered criminals and tortured in a variety of ways, including crucifixion."

Suetonias (a.d. 69-130) wrote of  Chrestus  as an instigator. Most scholars believe this is a reference to Christ. Sutonias also wrote of  Christians having been persecuted by Nero in a.d.64.

Roman Officials:  Christians were considered enemies of Rome because of their worship of Jesus  as Lord rather than Caesar. The following Roman government officials including two Caesars wrote letters from that perspective, mentioning Jesus and  early Christian origins.

"
Pliny the Younger was an imperial magistrate under  Trajan  in a.d. 112, Pliny wrote to Trajan of his attempts to force Christians to renounce Christ, Whom they "worshiped as a god".

Emperor Trajan (a.d. 56-117) wrote letters mentioning Jesus and early Christian origins.

Emperor Hadrian (a.d.76- 136) wrote about Christians as followers of Jesus.

"

  Pagan sources :
Several early pagan writers briefly mentioned    Jesus or Christians prior  to the end of the second  century. These include Thallus,  Phlegon, Mara Bar-Serapion, and Lucian of Samosate.

Thaillus' remarks about Christ were written  in a.d. 52, about twenty years after Christ.

In total nine early non-Christian secular writers briefly mention Jesus as a real person within 150 years of His death.  Interestingly that is the same number of secular writers who mention Tiberius Caesar, the Roman Emperor, during Jesus' time. If we were to consider Christian and non-Christian sources, there are forty-two who mention Jesus compared to just ten for Tiberius.

WHERE DOES YOUR SOUL GO WHEN YOU DIE? (2)

                                           WHERE DOES              YOUR SOUL GO
   WHEN                            YOU DIE?

                                                     2

The Bible is very clear about what happens to us when we die.

You can choose to either believe what is written in the road map for your earthly journey and accept God's provision or you can reject it.   The choice is yours. There is no middle way!

You can scoff, sneer and laugh as much as you wish while here on earth. Whatever you choose to believe will not alter what God has ordained.  When you have breathed your last breath you must face the consequences of your choice. There are no second chances.

Some people believe that God is an  old man with a long beard and that He is cruel and keeps us under control with a whip.  Nothing can be further from the truth.

Firstly: God is not an "old man"  because God does not age.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

"For I am the Lord, I change not."
Malachi 3:6

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever."
Hebrews 13:8

Secondly: God is loving and kind, patient and compassionate - He wishes to have a personal relationship with  each and everyone of us regardless of what we have said or done (none of us can say we have not sinned) and so because He loves us so much He has provided a means for us to escape the curse of sin and death.  This is where our choice comes in  - we can accept His provision or we can reject it.

"I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying His voice  and holding fast to Him , for He is your life and the length of your days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob, to give them."
 Deuteronomy 30: 19-20

"The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord."
Romans 6:23

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life ."
John 3:16

"The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all  should reach repentance."
2nd Peter 3:9

" The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent."
Acts 17:30

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life
when the clouds unfold their wings of strife
when the strong tides lift and the cables strain
will your anchor shift or firm remain?

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
steadfast and sure while the billows roll
fastened to the Rock which cannot move
grounded  firm and deep in the Saviour's love

Will your anchor hold in the straights of fear
when the breakers roar that the reef is near
when the surges rave and the cold winds blow
will the angry wave then your bark oerflow?

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
steadfast and sure while the billows roll
fastened to the Rock which cannot move
grounded firm and deep in our Saviour's love.

Will your anchor hold in the floods of death
when the waters chill your latest breath
On the strong tide's lift you will never fail
while your anchor holds within the veil.

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
steadfast and sure while the billows roll
fastened to the Rock which cannot move
grounded firm and deep in our Savour's love

Will your eyes behold in the morning light
the city of gold and the harbour bright
with your anchor firm on the heavenly shore
and all life's storm past for evermore.

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
steadfast and sure while the billows roll
fastened to the Rock which cannot move
grounded firm and deep in our Saviour's love.

TWENTY SEVENTEEN - PART EIGHT

                                       TWENTY SEVENTEEN               - PART EIGHT

                                                     Hello folks,

It is Sunday 29th February,      the guys are back, and finish installing the cupboards which are fabulous. We are very happy with them. They could not have been any better than they are.

God is so good the way that He provides is simply awesome. Without Him we would be living in despair.  Through all the hardship He gives us beautiful things to cheer us on.

Wednesday  1st February - Andy has written a letter to the owners stating our complaints and emails it to us for approval. After making a few adjustments and additions I mail it back to him.

Thursday 2nd - Today is blood test day and shopping. Late afternoon and Ruth and I are busy in the kitchen when Harry gets out of my bedroom window into the open area. It is hard to imagine how this tiny little Yorkie can climb a three foot smooth wall to get onto the windowsill but that is what he's done. His paw prints are on the wall.

I remember when he was only a few weeks old how he used to climb a rough stone garden wall back at our previous abode before we moved to this farm. I actually watched him do it but I didn't think he could climb a smooth plastered wall

Friday 3rd February - Ruth realizes that we have left our hot tray at the old house. She sends Charmaine to fetch it. Charmaine brings it but it was no longer at the old house it was with Amandah.

Owners  send plumbers to fix toilet and shower tap we  want them  to install  tap for our washing machine as the water pressure at our kitchen tap is far too low but Andre says no.  Amandah sends one of her tenants to do it and he says he will come and do it tomorrow.

Saturday 4th February -  Surprise, surprise no one comes to install the tap for the washing machine. We are slowly getting sorted out but haven't had a healthy cooked meal since we moved in here. We still haven't found a frying pan and lots of other stuff but we will eventually get there.

Harry gets out of the same window for a second time.  Fortunately no landlord's dogs are around and we retrieve him with no problems.

A few days later he gets out of the window above my bed.  We don't know what to do. We can't watch him every moment of the day.  I now have to keep him on a leash.

Just trust in God to keep Harry safe.

MY FAVORITE PSALMS - PART SIXTY TWO

MY FAVORITE                                                       PSALMS - PART                                                   SIXTY TWO

The Lord said unto my Lord, "Sit Thou at My right hand, until I make Thine enemies Thy footstool."

The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.  Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning; thou hast the dew of thy youth.

The Lord has sworn and will not repent. Thou are a priest forever after the order of Mechizedek.  The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of His wrath.

He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; He shall wound the heads over many countries.

He shall drink of the brook in the way; therefore shall He lift up His head.

Bu Thou, O God, the Lord, deal kindly with me for Thy Name's sake. Because Thy loving kindness is good deliver me for I am afflicted and needy and my heart is wounded within me.

I am passing like a                  shadow when it                        lengthens, I am shaken            off like the locust. My knees  are weak from fasting; and  my flesh has grown lean  without fatness.

I also have become a reproach to them; when they see me they wag their head.

Help me, O Lord, my God; Save me according to Thy loving kindness, and let them know that this is Thy Hand.  Thou, Lord, hast done it.

With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the Lord; and in the midst of many I will praise Him. For He stands at the right hand of the needy; to save him from those who judge his soul.

WAS JESUS A REAL PERSON - PART FOUR

                                              WAS JESUS A REAL       PERSON
                                               part four

  (copied from
   Y-Jesus.com)

Early non-Christian accounts

Skeptics like Ellen Johnson cite the "lack of secular history"  for Jesus as evidence that He didn't exist.

Yet there is very little documentation for any person from the time of Christ. Most ancient historical documents have been destroyed through the centuries, by wars, fires and pillaging, or simply through weathering and deterioration.

According to E.M. Blaiklock, who has catalogued most of the non- Christian writings of the Roman Empire - "practically nothing exists from the time of Christ,  even for great secular leaders such as Julius Caesar "

And since He wasn't a great political or military leader, Darrell Bock notes  "It is amazing and significant that Jesus shows up at all in the sources we have."

So who are these sources Bock mentions?  Which early historians who wrote of Jesus did not have a Christian agenda?  First of all let us look at Jesus' enemies.

Jewish historians , the Jews had the most to gain by denying Jesus' existence, but they always regarded Him as real  " Several Jewish writings refer to Jesus as a real person whom they opposed.

Noted Jewish historian Flavius Josephus  wrote of James 'the brother of Jesus, the so-called Christ'.... If Jesus wasn't a real person why wouldn't Josephus have said so?

In another somewhat controversial passage Josephus speaks more extensively of Jesus

"At this time there was a man who was called Jesus. His conduct was good and he was known to be virtuous. And many people from among the Jews and other nations became his disciples. Pilate condemned him to be crucified, and he died. And those who became his disciples did not abandon his discipleship. They reported that  he had appeared to them three days after his crucifixion and that he was alive. Accordingly he was thought to be the Messiah."

Although some of his words are in dispute, Josephus' confirmation here of Jesus' existence is widely accepted by scholars.

Israeli scholar Shlomo Pines writes  "Even the most bitter opponents of Christianity never expressed any doubt as to Jesus having really lived.

World historian Will Durant notes that no Jew or Gentile from the first century ever denied the existence of Jesus.

WHERE DOES YOUR SOUL GO WHEN YOU DIE?

 WHERE DOES              YOUR  SOUL GO
       WHEN YOU DIE?

This is something most of us do not like like to think about - yet it is the most important question you will ever be asked. Your eternal destiny depends on what you believe.

 Dear Friend,
today I want to ask you a few pertinent personal  questions about what you believe.

You do not need to be afraid to answer them  because I am not going to ask you to fill in a questionnaire -  You will remain anonymous and your answers remain between you and God.

I do not know you, and if by chance you should happen to know me, I will never even know whether you chose to read this blog unless of course you wish to tell me that you did.

I will never know your answers and I do not need to. Nevertheless they are and always will be the most important questions you will ever be asked. Where you will spend eternity depends on what you believe before you breathe your last breath.

Be honest with yourself - if you have doubts admit them to yourself and seek the answers.

God has given us a road map (The Bible) here are some of the items it covers which I  have copied below:

"This Book is the inspired, infallible Word of God.
The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers.

Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding,  its histories are true, its prophecies are accurate, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy.

It contains Light to direct you, Food to support you,  and Comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler's map,  the pilgrim's staff,  the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword and the Christian's charter. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed.

CHRIST IS ITS GRAND SUBJECT, our good its design, and the glory of God its end.  It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, prayerfully, frequently, it is a mine of wealth, a Paradise of glory, and a River of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgement, and will be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibilty, will reward the greatest labor, and condemns all who trifle with its sacred contents."

I am not going to ask you whether you believe that God exists, you only have to look around you to see all the marvels of nature for proof of His existence. But if you don't believe it, it really doesn't matter, your beliefs will not change the facts.

I am also not going to ask you whether you believe that we all die at some stage - every  person on this earth knows that to be a fact. But none of us worry about it too much - it is somewhere far off in the future - why worry about it now - but the reality remains and every once
in a while we are nudged into the reminder of it.

What I am going to ask you though is:

(1)   What do you believe happens to
        your soul when you die?

God's Word tells us  :  "It is appointed for man once to die and after this the judgement."
Hebrews 9:27

PRAISE AND WORSHIP (3)

                                                     PRAISE AND                                                          WORSHIP

       (3)

O, Lord, my God
when I in awesome wonder
consider all the works
Your hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the
roaring thunder
Thy power throughout
 the universe displayed

Then sings my soul my
Saviour God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul
 my Saviour God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

When I through woods and
forest glades do wander
I hear the birds sing sweetly
in the trees
And when I look down from
lofty mountain grandeur
I see the brook and feel the
 gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul
my Saviour God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul
my Saviour God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

And when I see, that God
His Son not sparing
sent Him to die
I scarce can take it in
When on the cross my
 burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to
 take away my sin

Then sings my soul
my Saviour God to Thee
how great Thou art
how great Thou art then sings my soul my Saviour God to Thee
how great Thou art
how great Thou art

When Christ shall come
with shouts of jubilation
to take me home
what joy shall fill my soul
then I shall bow
in humble adoration
and there proclaim
My God, how great
Thou art

Then sings my soul
my Saviour God to Thee
how great Thou art
how great Thou art
Then sings my soul
my Saviour God to Thee
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art.

TWENTY SEVENTEEN - PART SEVEN

                                       TWENTY SEVENTEEN               - PART SEVEN

  Hello folks,

Amandah's dogs attack            Jessie, one of the dogs Roz left for them to care for.

Andy and Danny manage to pull them off but Jessie is badly hurt.  Ruth sends  SMS  to Andre who answers with "Okay".   Half an hour later Andy sends SMS  to Amandah who does not reply.  Both SMS  notify them that Jessie needs medical help urgently.

This   dog fight causes Danny to have a bad asthma attack and he sweats so badly that it looks as if a water hose has been turned on him.  He really doesn't look well. He is just skin and bone.

We also notice that Andy has a problem with his big toe. This is worrisome as he is diabetic. We all caution him to see his doctor.

Harry manages to free himself from his harness and we have to lock him in the bathroom in order to keep him safe.  Vlooi also eventually frees herself.

We are hoping there will be     no rain tomorrow so that we   can put the four dogs               outside in the fenced  off         area and only have to tie         Sally up inside.

We are not at all happy with the fence. When we moved onto this property in September 2015 we  paid Chris R2500 for a good strong solid fence. When we had to move it was agreed with the new owners that this fence would go with us. Then suddenly this changed and we were told that they would rather keep that fence intact and provide us with a new fence at the cottage.

We were shocked to find that although this was done it was not the size originally agreed on, It did not carry on to the back of the house where the trees and shade are. There is not one single tree for shade and it is made of cheap chicken wire.

When Ruth complained about this she was brushed off with the comment that the dogs are mostly inside anyway.

The guys cannot finish the cupboards today they will be back tomorrow.

EVOLUTION - PART FIVE

                                             EVOLUTION -              PART FIVE
                                             (copied from Mark         Cahill's Book
                               "A heartbeat away.")

Evolution has two main branches. One is Microevolution, which involves minor variations within a species. We see evidence of this all the time, such as when bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. This is also called adaptation or natural selection.  Microevolution is scientific because it is observable and measurable.

The other branch is Macroevolution, which is the concept that successive  small changes can, over time, gradually change one species to another. It involves not only minor variations but also the addition of completely new features and body types. Macroevolution however, has
never been observed, therefore it is not scientific.

As I was searching for the truth about evolution, one of the most compelling facts was that microevolution is limited by the genetic code.

No features that are not already present in a creature's  DNA  can ever be produced by natural selection. So while there is variation in a species, it is always within these limits. For instance there are many different types of dogs but they are all still dogs.

In the "Answers Book"  Ken Ham describes this limitation of microevolution:

"Adaptation and natural selection are biological facts, amoeba-to-man is not. Natural Selection can only work on the genetic information present in a population of organisms - it cannot create new information. For example, since no known reptiles have genes for feathers, no amount of selection will produce a feathered reptile.  Mutations in genes can only modify or eliminate  existing structures, not create new ones."

Thus there are always natural limits to biological change. Natural selection is just that - selection. It cannot create anything new; it can only select from the information contained in the organism's genetic blueprint.

Yet evolutionists ignore this key fact, and claim that one species can gain new information and evolve it into another species.

Unfortunately for their theory, evolutionists don't have any evidence for this. It has never been
proven or observed in nature and indeed never can be.

In the next post we will take a closer look at the two conditions which are necessary for the theory of evolution to be true.
