Jesus said :  "When they persecute you in
this city, flee ye to another, for  verily I say
unto you, ye shall not have gone over the
cities of Israel till the Son of man come. 
The disciple is not above his master, nor
the servant above his lord.  If they have
called the master of the house Beelzebub,
how much more shall they call them of 
his household? 
Fear them not, therefore, for there is 
nothing covered that shall not be revealed;
and hid, that shall not be known. 
(Mathew 10:23-26)

Persecution and tribulation  follow those 
who truly live out their lives for Jesus. It is a
promise?  Why?  This world is not in the
business of glorifying God, and it does not
want to change. Satan will also try to do 
anything  to pull you away from your faith. I 
think he figures that you will give Jesus Christ 
up and not follow the Son of God, if  he puts 
your faith to the test. But actually it does just 
the opposite. The testing  strengthens your faith.

Remember, never accept Jesus just in order to improve your life in this world. It 
is not about getting
things in this life, but
about being right with the God we will stand in front of on judgment
day. And during out time on earth, God gives
us everything we need.

In fact, some of the persecution will come from
ungodly, religious people, who are jealous of
how happy you are, and of how blessed you 
are in the things of the Spirit, as well as things 
of the world - those houses, lands, friends and
family God gives you to replace the ones that 
fell away when you came to Jesus.

In other words your life in Jesus may stir up
envy in some who profess to believe in Jesus
but don't.  The temptation to hurt you with
gossip, or any way they can think of, will be
too much for them to resist.
